Feature Event

The Centre for Digital Entertainment is proud to host the Digital Economy Network (DEN) Summer School 2018.

The Summer School will take place between Sunday 1st - Tuesday 3rd July 2018.

Inspire, Programme, Develop.........

This cross CDT Summer School aims to inspire each and every attendee, with key note speakers and carefully selected workshops to help develop the skills of a researcher.

Key activities:

Sunday 1st July - Social gathering at Urban Reef in Bournemouth - Drinks, nibbles and networking - 7pm.

Arrive early on Sunday to take advantage of the famous golden sand beaches of Bournemouth, just over 10 mins walk from the accommodation.

Monday 2nd July - Day one of Summer School - Welcome, Keynote Speakers, a choice of three half day workshops (details to follow), evening meal and presentations.

Tuesday 3rd July - Day two of Summer School - a choice of three full day workshops (details to follow).

The Summer School will be held in the unique location of the Italian Villa, Poole, set in the beautiful gardens of Compton Acres.

CASA 2018 - Computer Animation and Social Agents

The 31th International Conference on Computer Animation and Social Agents (CASA 2018) will be held on May 21-23, 2018 in Beijing, China.

Beijing is the metropolitan capital of China, a modern and fashionable city with skyscrapers, high-tech subways and pop culture as well as an ancient city with a long history, including the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall. The conference venue is inside the Zhongguancun District, known as “China’s Silicon Valley” and one of the hubs in Beijing for entertainment and tourism.

The conference is organized by ISCAS and sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) plus National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). It is supported by the Computer Graphics Society (CGS) see (http://cgs-network.org/). The conference is held in-cooperation with ACM SIGGRAPH.

Competitive Advantage in the Digital Economy Forum (CADE 2018)

The 5th Competitive Advantage in the Digital Economy (CADE) Forum is an exclusive three-day event, bringing together academics and practitioners to discuss the challenges of the digital economy and present the latest cutting edge research.

This year will see CADE Forum enter its fifth year and it will continue to be held at the Palazzo Pesaro-Papafava, the University of Warwick’s location in Venice, Italy. Specifically, this year's Forum will focus on personal data, smart service systems and digital transformation.

This annual one-day event, led by Bristol Vision Institute (BVI) at the University of Bristol in collaboration with the Universities of Bath, Exeter and Cardiff, brings together vision researchers from all disciplines from a wide range of disciplines.

The colloquium provides an ideal opportunity for postgraduate students, postdoctoral research associates and others at an equivalent career stage, to present their work and obtain valuable feedback in an informal conference environment.

Submissions are invited from all areas of Vision Science and Engineering, including, but not limited to Biology, Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, Physics, Mathematics and the Creative Arts.

The aim is to strengthen local cross disciplinary links in vision science but the workshop is open to anyone and in the past have had attendance from across the UK and beyond. BMVC 2018

The British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC) is the British Machine Vision Association (BMVA) annual conference on machine vision, image processing, and pattern recognition. It is one of the major international conferences on computer vision and related areas held in the UK. As its increasing popularity and quality, it has established as a prestigious event on the vision calendar.
There have been 28 successful BMVC since 1985. They were organized in many major universities in the UK, such as Cambridge (1987), Oxford (1990), Birmingham (1995), UEA (2003), Edinburgh (2006), Leeds (2008) and Imperial College London (2017). The scale of the conference has increased significantly in the past decade. In particular, the 2017 conference attracted 450 attendants and 635 full paper submissions, which was a record high. 188 high-quality research papers were accepted, in which around one-third of the works came from Europe, one-third from Asia and one-third from North America. Apart from international researchers, the conference also attracted a wide spectrum of international companies, which sponsored the conference and demonstrated their products in the conference.
