The exciting and vibrant field of visual computing is an increasingly important research area due to its wide range of applications in many disciplines. In general, our ability to collect, store, and archive data vastly exceeds our ability derive useful knowledge and insight from it. This is a ubiquitous problem. Visual computing plays a key role in gaining an understanding large, complex data sets or phenomena by exploiting the human visual system. Visual computing leverages computer graphics in order to provide a visual overview, explore, analyze, and present phenomena which is often very difficult to understand.

The 26th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) will be held in Taipei International Convention Center, Taipei, Taiwan, on September 22-25. The 12th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia-Pacific will take place from 17 – 20 November 2019 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) in Brisbane, Australia.
Beyond is the research and development conference and showcase for the creative industries. It explores the dynamic relationship between research, academia and business innovation, and brings together 350-400 business leaders, creatives, researchers, policy makers, journalists and funders. The two-day programme features a single-track conference, a creative research-led innovation showcase and an early career researchers poster exhibition.
Doctoral Candidates and Early Career Researchers working in the areas of research that address one of the Beyond 2019 conference themes: Artificial Intelligence (AI); Machine Learning; Creative Technology and Data and their application for, and influence on, the creative industries are invited to submit a short abstract for a poster.
The abstract should be between 250-300 words and describe the research project and its relevance to the conference themes; this can be work-in-progress or completed research. All abstracts will be peer reviewed by suitably qualified reviewers, and selected based on novelty, significance and rigour of the research. Deadline for the abstract submission is midday on the 15th July 2019.
All selected participants will be invited to showcase their research projects at Beyond 2019 Poster Exhibition, which is being held on the 20-21st November at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.
