Introducing Brent Kiernan

We are pleased to welcome Brent Kiernan to the Centre for Digital Entertainment, as Centre Manager.  Brent joins us from the University of Warwick where he has been working since 2005. His previous posts include managing the Integrated Magnetic Resonance Centre for Doctoral Training and the Diamond Science and Technology Centre for Doctoral Training, which like CDE are multi-institution centres that draw funding from both EPSRC and industry.  We are sure you will all join us in welcoming Brent to the team.

This week our congratulations go to CDE Research Engineer Milto Miltiadou for successfully defending her thesis "Efficient Accumulation, Analysis and Visualisation of Full-Waveform LiDAR in a Volumetric Representation", with Applications to Forestry Placement details: NERC Airborne Research Facility at Plymouth Marine Laboratory (main placement) & Interpine Group Ltd, New Zealand (short placement Jan-March 2016). 

Congratulations also go to Milto's Supervisory team, Dr. Neill D.F. Campbell (initially it was Dr. Matthew Brown) and Dr. Michael Grant.

Milto now has plans to work at the Remote Sensing and Geo-Environment Research Lab of Cyprus University of Technology.  We wish her all the best for her future.

EGX is the UK’s biggest games event, and an established part of the global games scene. Hosting 75,000 gamers over four days and showcasing everything from the newest blockbusters to vintage board games.  The event will take place in Birmingham 21 – 24th September 2017.

DiMEA Workshop – 18 – 19th October 2017

DiMEA is a workshop funded by the Digital Economy Network. This workshop will promote a network in the field of digital entertainment for museums by bringing together experts from the museum field, prominent researchers from computer science and design, as well as professionals of the entertainment industry. Registration is completely FREE. Accommodation and food will be included, but you will need to make your own travel arrangements. However, places are limited​. There are just a couple of places still available as attendee.  If you are interested, please register as soon as possible.
