The Digital Economy Network are circulating information on ARCHER, a UK National Supercomputing Service in which EPSRC is a partner.  ARCHER run standard training courses that any CDT student can access; students can register here.

Additionally, the facility are always keen to see if they can tailor the training programme to suit CDTs.    If you are interested, email Zoe Leonard who will contact the organisers on behalf of CDE.

SIGGRAPH 2016

The 43rd International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, will take place in Anaheim, California USA – 24th – 28th July.

SIGGRAPH is the world’s largest, most influential annual event in computer graphics and interactive techniques:  Five days of research, results, demos, educational sessions, art, screenings, and hands-on interactivity featuring the community’s latest technical achievements, and three days of commercial exhibits displaying the industry’s current hardware, software and services.

If you want to attend SIGGRAPH this year please email Zoe Leonard to express your interest and advise of an any co-located events you plan to attend, by 31st March 2016.

DENs has worked with the Digital Catapult Centre to be able to offer a showcase opportunity for DENs CDT students and researchers to showcase their CDT/PhD work, in line with the Showcasing themes of the Centres.

The next Call has now been launched, entitled ‘Best on Show’. The Call is now open for online applications until 24 March 2016 and all the details are available here:

The Digital Centre are looking to show the ‘best of the best’ in digital innovations, and are putting out a call for UK award winning organisations.

*DEN CDT students will be eligible to apply if:

Your product, app, installation, prototype, solution or new business (arising from or relevant to CDT research) has won an industry award, competition or media award in one of the Digital Catapult’s four focus areas, which are:

  • Sharing closed data between organisations
  • Sharing creative and licensed content more simply
  • Sharing personal data in a way that’s trusted and secure
  • Sharing data generated across the Internet of Things.

Discover Sónar and Sónar+D in Barcelona 16-18 June

Taking place in Barcelona from 16-18 June 2016, Sónar+D is the international conference that brings together a combination of activities with a common theme: the relationship between creativity and technology, and the digital transformation of the cultural industries involved.  

The celebration takes place in Barcelona in Fira Montjuïc, and brings together experts from around the world (technicians, entrepreneurs, artists, companies and researchers) to present initiatives and tools that will shape future creative experiences in the fields of music, visuals, interactive content and transmedia platforms.  Full details available here.
