Digital media companies are major contributors to the UK economy. They are highly respected internationally and find their services in great demand.
To meet this demand they need to employ people with the highest technical skills and the imagination to use those skills to a practical end. The sector has become so successful that the shortage of such people now constrains them from expanding further.
Our Doctoral Training Centre is already addressing the issue and has become the national focus for this kind of training.
The Centre belongs to the Association of Engineering Doctorates. The AEngD is a community of Engineering Doctorate providers, researchers, sponsors, EngD alumni and other stakeholders associated with the EngD.
The Centre is a member of TIGA, a non-profit trade association representing the UK's games industry. Members also include independent games developers, in-house publisher-owned developers, outsourcing companies and technology businesses.
Creative Skillset is the licensed Sector Skills Council, which aims to ensure the UK creative industries maintain their world-class position. Creative England is a national agency that invests in and supports creative ideas, talent and businesses in film, TV, games and digital media, aiming to grow the brightest, the best, and those with the most promise, so that individuals and businesses can achieve their full creative and commercial potential.
This includes helping identify future opportunities to grow the economy and generate jobs. The West of England Local Enterprise Partnership and the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership has identified the Creative and Digital industry as a key area of investment for Bath and Bristol.
The Centre is proud to support Made in Creative UK which promotes the economic and cultural contribution of the creative industries to the global market.
