Future Play Exchange

The Edinburgh Digital Entertainment Festival (EDEF) takes place throughout the month of August. The festival features a diverse programme of live performances, installations, experiences and workshops, all of which explore and inspire new ideas that blend technology and art. The festival takes place in and around the Assembly Rooms on George Street, in the heart of Edinburgh’s new town. Four indoor venues are transformed into performance, exhibition and workshop spaces while George Street becomes an outdoor extension of the festival with interactive installations, food stalls and a themed bar.

CDE will be sponsoring part of the Future Play Exchange conference taking place on 21st August 2017.

Women In Games Conference 2017

The conference will take place at the East London Arts and Music Academy, 5th – 6th September 2017.  Now over 2 days, the event will comprise a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, the HR Manager’s Forum, an expo and the European Women in Games Hall of Fame Awards. Over 40 speakers and panelists will reflect the diverse talent that exists in the games industry with its objective to educate and inspire, and help stimulate future generations.

Friday 8th September 2017

Venue: The Art Pavilion in Mile End Park, Clinton Road, London, E3 4QY


Inter/sections is an event organised by the CDT students in the Media and Arts Technology Centre for Doctoral Training at Queen Mary University of London. Inter/sections 2017 is taking place from 3-8 September 2017, at the Mile End Art Pavilion in East London.

This year’s theme is Politics and Ethics in Media and Arts Technology. They will explore this theme through a week-long programme of workshops, talks, events, and an exhibition featuring new commissions by Julian Oliver and Will Hurt as well as student artwork.

Inter/sections culminates in a Symposium on Friday 8 September. This is a day-long event for discussion and exchange between academia, industry and activists. Featuring keynote speakers who are experts in emerging trends in science and media, the Inter/sections Symposium creates a space to debate new ethical frameworks for emerging technologies. Attendance is free, but booking is essential as lunch will be provided.

KIMA - Visual Sound - Launch Event

As part of the Digital Catapult Immersive Lab programme - Analema Group will present KIMA project to an audience of academics, art institutions, industry partners with the aim to promote the project and get relevant feedback on the next stages of development planned for 2017-2019. KIMA pushes the boundaries of sound perception, allowing audiences to interact with sound
visually in real-time. Over the last 6 years, Analema Group developed new strategies in sound perception, a research that will now lead to a more outward looking development. At Digital Catapult, we will showcase milestones in the development of the KIMA as well as premiere our plans for the next two years.

DiMEA Workshop

DiMEA is a workshop funded by the Digital Economy Network. This workshop will promote a network in the field of digital entertainment for museums by bringing together experts from the museum field, prominent researchers from computer science and design, as well as professionals of the entertainment industry. Registration is completely FREE. Accommodation and food will be included, but you will need to make your own travel arrangements. However, places are limited​. 16th International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs

ICCHP focuses on Assistive Technology (AT) and eAccessibility enabling a more independent life, participation, inclusion and improved services and support for people with disabilities and older adults.

By its nature, ICCHP covers a wide area of topics and has a future oriented mission. The following list, therefore, is not exhaustive and topics are not to be seen isolated. The list should motivate to get involved.
